Famous artworks are all over the world, and the COVID-19 pandemic makes it more difficult for people to visit museums in the real world. This mobile VR art gallery "game" aims to create an immersive environment where people can closely watch selected paintings and sculptures, learn the background stories behind them, and enjoy the tour experience of the interactive gallery.
We designed and created all the 3D models from scratch in Rhino. Objects we made include: the gallery structure, frames of paintings, sculpture bases, benches, computers and so on.

Since mobile devices are the platform for this gallery experience, we used two joysticks to control the movement. The right one controls which direction user is looking at and the other one helps user move.
To make it easier for users to navigate in our gallery, we created a tour guide and highlighted our featured artworks on it. Then, we placed a button on the screen for opening the brochure so that users can look at it at any time anywhere in the gallery.
For a more enjoyable touring experience, we added a light background music to the gallery. At the same time, for each featured artwork, we recorded a brief description about it. When users move close to this artwork, the audio will start playing, once users move away, the audio stops.
We also created many fun animations for users to interact with. When approaching a featured artwork, the corresponding animations will start playing. There are a variety types of animation, such as floating texts, related pictures, repetitive videos, etc.
