This project imagines what the future world could be like in the next 50-100 years. Focusing on the promising flexible display technology, I developed 2 main artifacts and many other possible ones that might be common in the world we will be living in in the near future.
Read the ZineA flexible display is an electronic visual output surface that is physically bendable. This kind of display offers many advantages over traditional display technology, including: ultra-thin, lightweight, bendable, portable, shatter-proof, unbreakable, and low energy.
Flexible displays include various industrials, such as Internet of Things, electronic engineering, manufacturing, material science, and product design, etc. Although there are still many challenges that hinder its large-scale use, the future of flexible displays looks very promising.

IoT and 5G+ technologies have matured, Internet is accessed for free anytime anywhere...... Anyone can be a designer, it’s common and easy to customize daily-use items...... Protecting the environment is everyone's duty, reusable materials are widely available......
Devices would be super thin and light, you can fold your iPad, turn your TV into a roll, etc.
Materials such as plastic, paper and fabric will be digital, interactive and intelligent.

What if a flexible display can be well integrated with any surface?
You can even “print” videos. A surface can be “redesigned” for countless times.

Digital paper is a thin digital screen made of a flexible display. You can customize it, write and draw on it, display multimedia on it, and even cut it out like today's paper. You only need to buy physical empty digital paper from the store. Once connected, it can be designed in any way you like.

With some apps, you can browse the designs online and control what is displayed on your clothes.
You can buy designs from brands or from people who shared their designs on the market.
Or you can make your own design and preview it in real-time on the physical clothes you bought.
